The official site for the Yuruyuri anime series announced today on March 18 that the upcoming new anime will be released as OVA, not as the third season of TV anime, sometime in 2014. And the OVA is scheduled to be screened at Japanese theaters. It's a similar release format with the recent Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn and Ghost in the Shell: Arise.
The news of the production of the new anime was reported by the original manga creator Namori with a color illustration (see below) on February 9. The four main voice cast of the anime: Shiori Mikami (Akari Akaza), Yuka Otsubo (Kyoko Toshinou), Minami Tsuda (Yui Funami), and Rumi Ohkubo (Chinatsu Yoshikawa) will join the stage event at Anime Japan 2014 (BLUE stage Program 2) on March 22.
