Boy's Idol Group TV Anime "Shonen Hollywood" is Set for July

It was officially announced yesterday on March 14 that a TV anime series based on Ikuyo Hashiguchi's boy's idol novel Shonen Hollywood is in the works by Zexcs (Diabolik Lovers, The Flowers of Evil).The novel was originally posted on a web-novel site Everystar and a book version titled as Shonen Hollywood -Red, Green, Pink- was published in July 2012.


 


The story of the 2012 novel revolves around a 32-year-old man Kouji Sakuragi. One day he is scouted for a boy's idol group Shonen Hollywood, because he looks much younger than his real age. Kouji, who once dreamed of being an idol, decides to join the group as 17-year-old boy with a stage name Tsuyoto Hiiragi.


 


A mixed media project based on the novel world launched in spring of 2013. Since then, a web documentary


series "Hollywood TV Japan" to chose the cast for the characters in the future live-action projects has been


streamed on YouTube


 


The upcoming TV anime series tells the original story set 15 years after the 2012 novel. It centers on a


brand-new Shonen Hollywood group performing in a theater named "Hollywood Tokyo" placed in Harajuku,


Tokyo. The voice actors who will play the new members of Shonen Hollywood are:


 


Ryota Ousaka as Kakeru Kazami


Daiki Yamashita as Kira Saeki


Tetsuya Kakihara as Ikuma Amaki


Shota Aoi as Daiki Tomii


Kensho Ono as Shun Maiyama

Toshimasa Kuroyanagi (Say "I love you.") directs the anime for Zexcs, and Kei Tsuchiya (episode animation


director for The Qwaser of Stigmata, Linebarrels of Iron) designs the anime characters. The original novel


writer Ikuyo Hashiguchi also join the anime as series composition. The music for the show is produced by


King Records' Starchild label. The public presentation is scheduled to be held at Nakano Sunplaza in Tokyo


on May 18.
