Sunrise Opens the Doors to Its Drawing Cram School Next Year

Sunrise is one of the best known names in anime. And if you want to work for them, you have to be your absolute best. Fortunately, they're looking to make this easier with the reopening of Sunrise Sakuga-juku -- or the Sunrise Drawing Cram School.

The previous program, which ran from 2005-2011, turned out the likes of Tomoyuki Fujii (chief animation director for four episodes of Love Live! School Idol Project), Tiger & Bunny animator Norihiro Itagaki, and and Aikatsu Stars! character designer Yukiko Aikei.

Applicants must be between the ages of 18-25 with at least a high school education, or expecting to graduate from high school by March 18. Foreign applicants are being accepted, but it is mandatory that they be fluent in Japanese above a daily conversational level.

Ten students will be chosen from the applicants based upon interviews, the quality of their submitted documents, and a heavy screening process. Tuition will be waived, and each student will also receive a (conditional) 100,000 yen stipend (about $905) per month.

The chief lecturer will be Hunter x Hunter and RAINBOW - Nisha Rokubo no Shichinin director Hiroshi Koujina. Other lecturers will be announced at a later date.

The best part? Once you graduate, you will be able to get a job at any studio within Sunrise.

Applications must arrive by July 25, and accepted students will be announced by the end of August. Check out the official site for full information, a basic run-down of the year's curriculum, and application information.
