Two more classical composers are joining the mad, musical antics of ClassicaLoid, an ongoing TV anime which returns to Japanese airwaves in October of 2018 and which re-imagines the giants of music history in some unique and unconventional ways.
German composer Richard Wagner appears as a young man and will be voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka. Czech composer Antonín Dvořák appears as a pygmy hippopotamus. His voice actor has not been announced yet. Wagner's Musik will be produced by KO1 TSUTAYA, while Dvořák's Musik will be produced by Chisato, the lead guitarist of the visual kei rock band PENICILLIN.
The 1st season of ClassicaLoid is directed by Yoichi Fujita, while the 2nd season is directed by Kei Umabiki. Both seasons feature animation by Sunrise. The 1st season of ClassicaLoid is currently available via streaming on Crunchyroll, who describe the series as follows:
Kanae and Sosuke are two high-school students living in the suburbs in Japan where music flourishes. One day, they encounter Beethoven and Mozart, two suspicious men who call themselves ClassicaLoids. The “Musik” they play have mysterious powers, such as causing meteor showers and summoning giant robots. Kanae and Sosuke’s daily lives suddenly turn chaotic! Adding to the commotion are the appearances of other ClassicaLoids such as Bach, Chopin, Liszt, and Schubert. What is the big secret behind their powers? And are they a threat to humankind, or could they be saviors?
