Koichi Yamadera Reprises His Role as Shouyou Yoshida in "Gintama" Live-Action Film

The official Twitter for the highly anticipated live-action film adaptation of Hideaki Sorachi's action comedy manga Gintama announced today that 56-year-old voice actor Koichi Yamadera, who voiced Shouyou Yoshida in the manga's anime adaptations, voices the character in the film as well.

 

The character is the head of a private school named Shokason-juku and the mentor of Gintoki Sakata, Shinsuke Takasugi, and Kogoro Katsura in their childhood. He was a father figure to Gintoki who was a war orphan. Yamadera voiced the character in the Gintama TV series and the 2010 feature film Gintama: Shin'yaku Benizakura-Hen.

The Yuichi Fukuda (Hentai Kamen)-directed film is set to be released in Japan on July 14. Prior to

the theatrical release, the film's Japan premiere screening event will be held at Tokyo Dome City 

Hall today on June 28. LINE LIVE will start live-streaming the event around at 18:20 (JST)/02:20 (PDT).
