"Pokkén Tournament" Aiming for the Feel of Pokémon in the Real World

Following up on yesterday's official reveal of Pokkén Tournament, The Pokémon Company opened up an official website for the Pokémon arcade fighting game. The site features some comments from Pokémon CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara, Tekken chief producer Katsuhiro Harada, and SoulCalibur producer Masaaki Hoshino, all of whom were present for the reveal, and they had some interesting things to say about their collaborative project.

Dualshockers posted some translations of their comments, including Hoshino saying that "Pokkén Tournament's dynamic action runs at a smooth 60fps." Describing himself as the right person for the job, he added, "I considered the ultimate question, 'I wonder what it will feel like when we have Pokémon in the real world?'."

"The muscle and hair of Pokémon, the landscape of the world we live in compared to Pokémon’s landscape, it has inflated and produced more imagination ... I was drawn to the state-of-the-art technology and the best staff, so please look forward to the new world of Pokémon like you have never seen before."

Meanwhile, Tekken's Harada describes how the approach to Pokkén Tournament compares to the way they approach their own fighting games, going on to say that it's very important that anyone can play it, and that Pokémon fans can expect a new experience from the franchise. It sounds like he's aiming to make Pokkén Tournament both accessible to new players and fun for fans of fighting games, so it should be interesting to see how they balance that.
