Gunslinger Girl’s Aida to Launch 1518! Manga














This year’s 36th issue of Shogakukan‘s Big Comic Spirits announced on Sunday that five new series will begin in Big Comic Spirits 37/38th issue on August 11:


Yu Aida will begin a series titled 1518! (pronounced Ichi Go Ichi Hachi) about a high school student council. Aida’s previous series Gunslinger Girl ended in 2012 with 15 volumes and inspired several anime series adaptations. The manga also won an award for excellence at the 2012 Japan Media Arts Festival Awards.





Jun Abe (Portus) will begin Bōkyaku no Sachiko (Sachiko of Forgetfulness), a comedy series about a woman with chopsticks in one hand and dreams in the other. She eats to “forget.”





Michiharu Kusunoki will begin Ginkai no Speed Star, which Shogakukan‘s website describes as “the final stage” to Kusonoki’s driving manga Wangan Midnight. The series previously spawned a 26-episode anime series in 2007 and a manga sequel, Wangan Midnight C1 Runner. Kusonoki’s other works include Eight, Aitsu to Lullaby which was adapted into an anime film and live-action movie, and Shakotan Boogiewhich inspired a 4-episode OAV.





Niwa Tanba will start Tokusatsu Gagaga, a comedy about a 26-year-old Tokusatsu fan.





Toshikiri Hamamura will write and Mikado Muramasa will draw Eroge no Taiyō, a “serious business drama” about a coldhearted businessman and an erotic game company full of women.





The magazine’s 39th issue will also debut a new series on August 25. Yukio Tamai (Kamome Chance, Omega Drive) will write and draw Kedamame, which follows a mysterious man during the Kamakura period.
