On August 21st, electronics accessory manufacturer CosmoWeb released a case for the iPhone 5S and 5 designed by artist Yoshitaka Amano and musician Hyde.
The case, released in both black and white versions, was illustrated by Final Fantasy series artist Yoshitaka Amano, and depicts L’Arc~en~Ciel vocalist Hyde in the iconic style of one of Amano’s heroes. The long-awaited cases were originally supposed to be sold at 2013’s “Yoshitaka Amano x HYDE” art exhibition, but due to printing delays, were only just now released.
Each version was produced in a limited run of 99 cases. Following the black version selling out within hours of going on sale, 10 units were set aside to be sold to fans whose names are chosen in a random drawing. Entries for the chance to buy the case will be accepted until September 6th.
Each case retails for 3,000 yen.
