Third in their roll-out of Free! -Eternal Summer- dub cast announcements, FUNimation has revealed the voice of the main character, everyone’s favorite mackerel-loving, clothes-stripping waterdere, the cool-yet-passionate swimmer who lives to surround himself in water’s embrace– Haruka Nanase! Haruka (played by Nobunaga Shimazaki in the Japanese version) is played by Todd Haberkorn, the voice behind such renowned roles as Hetalia’s Italy, Ouran High School Host Club’s Hikaru Hitachiin, Fairy Tail’s Natsu Dragneel, Soul Eater’s Death the Kid, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood’s Ling Yao, and more.
They asked Todd for a few answers to some Free! ES-related questions!
Question: Can you swim? If so, what’s your best stroke?
Todd: I can swim, actually. Best stroke: the otter. I swim on my back and break open sea creature shells with a rock.
Question: What’s your favorite marine animal?
Todd: The marine scuba diver that scares children when they get in the tank to feed the sharks.
Question: When you were in high school, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Todd: I wanted to be an actor!
