Worldwide Hardware
Hardware home console sales week-on-week is up for the Wii U. PlayStation 4 sales are down by 6,188 (-6%) to 98,406 units sold. The Xbox One sold 63,521 units, a decrease of 1,692 (-3%). Wii U sales are up 2,550 (4%) to 62,668 units sold. PlayStation 3 sales are down 1m940 (-4%) to 48,402 units sold. Xbox 360 sales are down 127 (0%) to 33,664 units sold. The Wii sold 7,363 units, a decrease of 312 (-4%).
Handheld sales week-on-week is down across the board. The 3DS sold 126,388 units, which is a decrease 338 (0%). The PlayStation Vita sold 35,497 units, which is down 8,010 (-18%) compared to last week. The PSP is down 435 (-5%) to 7,610 units sold. Total week on week sales are down 16m492 units (-3%) to 483,519 units sold.
The Wii U is up year-on-year. The PlayStation 3 is down 52,002 (-52%), the Wii is down 15,328 (-68%), the Xbox 360 is down 32,957 (-49%), and the Wii U is up 39,886 (175%). The PSP is down 37,647 (-84%), the Vita is down 7,012 (-16%) and the 3DS is down 18,128 (-16%). Year on year sales is up by 26,444 units (6%).
Home console hardware sales have increased for the Wii U for one week. Sales have decreased for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 for one week, and six weeks for the Wii.
The PlayStation 3 has a 54 percent market share for the seventh generation; the Xbox 360 has a 38 percent market share; and the Wii has an eight percent market share. The PlayStation 4 has a 44 percent market share for the eighth generation, the Xbox One has a 28 percent market share and the Wii U has a 28 percent market share. Compared with 10 weeks ago the Wii U and Xbox One are up.
Handheld hardware sales have increased for the 3DS for three weeks. The Vita has decreased for one week and four weeks for the PSP. The Vita has outsold the PSP for 39 straight weeks. The gap between the 3DS and Vita has increased this week to 91,000 units, from 83,000 units last week.
The 3DS has a 78 percent market share for the eighth generation of handhelds, while the Vita has a 22 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks the 3DS is up, while the Vita and PSP are down.
Worldwide Software
No games debuted in the top 30 this week.
Here are the other games in the top 10 that are not debuts: Mario Kart 8 (WiiU) is at number one with sales of 104,970. Tomodachi Life (3DS) is at number two with sales of 74,315. Minecraft (PS3) is at number three with sales of 67,669. Sniper Elite 3 (PS4) is at number four with sales of 66,422. Watch Dogs (PS4) is at number five with sales of 62,980.
Minecraft (X360) is at number six with sales of 48,011. Watch Dogs (PS3) is at number seven with sales of 46,133. EA Sports UFC (PS4) is at number eight with sales of 45,595. Freedom Wars (PSV) is at number nine with sales of 42,850. Pokémon X/Y (3DS) rounds out the top 10 with sales of 42,374.
Software home console sales week-on-week is up for the Wii and Xbox 360. The PlayStation 3 sold 974,032 games this week, a decrease of 81,035 units (-8%). The Xbox 360 sold 731,180 games, an increase of 21,847 units (-3%). The PlayStation 4 sold 386,757 games, a decrease of 93,621 units (-19%). Wii software sales are up 7,949 units (3%) to 275,834 games sold. The Wii U sold 245,570 games, a decrease of 20,604 (-8%). The Xbox One sold 204,934 games, a decrease of 15,706 (-7%).
Handheld software sales week-on-week is up for the PSP. The 3DS sold 446,374 games, which is down 24,157 units (-5%). DS game sales are down 399 units (0%) to 211,999 games sold. The Vita sold 159,941 games, a decrease of 191,261 units (-54%) week-on-week. The PSP sold 70,193 games, an increase of 19,692 (-5%). Total combined software is down 377,295 units (-9%) week-on-week to 3.71 million.
Year-on-year software totals are up for the Wii U and Vita. The PlayStation 3 is down 513,164 units (-25%), the Wii is down 157,156 units (-36%), the Xbox 360 is down 275,317 units (-27%), and the Wii U is up 162,712 units (196%). The DS is down 65,592 units (-24%), the PSP is down 81,160 units (-54%), the 3DS is down 73,903 units (-14%), and the Vita is up 42,399 units (36%). Total combined software is down 369,490 units (-9%) games sold year-on-year.
Home console software sales have increased for the Xbox 360 and Wii one week. Sales have decreased for one week for the PlayStation 3, two weeks for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and five weeks for Wii U.
The PlayStation 3 has a 49 percent market share for the seventh generation; the Xbox 360 has a 37 percent market share; and the Wii has a 14 percent market share. The PlayStation 4 has a 46 percent market share for the eighth generation, the Wii U has a 29 percent market share, and the Xbox One has a 25 percent market share.
Handheld software sales have increased for the PSP for one week. Sales have decreased for the Vita for one week, and the DS and PSP for five weeks. The 3DS and DS have remained above their rivals, the Vita and PSP respectively. The 3DS sold nearly three times as many games as the Vita. The DS sold three times as many games as the PSP.
The DS has a 75 percent market share for the current generation handhelds and the PSP has a 25 percent market share. The 3DS has a 74 percent market share for the next generation handhelds, while the Vita has a 26 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago the Vita is up.
