Deadline reports that Dante Harper, the screeenwriter that adapted Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s novel All You Need is Kill into the first-draft screenplay for the Doug Liman-directed film Edge of Tomorrow, is now working on the script for Appian Way, Mad Chance, and Warner Bros.’ planned live-action Akira film, based on Katsuhiro Otomo’s modern classic cyberpunk adventure manga. Deadline also mentions that Non-Stop director Jaume Collet-Serra, who left development of the Akira film in 2012 to work on other movies, is now back as the film’s director again. Warner Bros. shut down pre-production of the Akira movie in early 2012 to allow time for major script and budget revisisions.
