Drawn & Quarterly Adds Shigeru Mizuki’s Hitler, Tadao Tsuge’s Trash Market Manga

Trash Market slated for February 2015, Hitler for 2015-2016

North American publisher Drawn & Quarterly announced at their Comic-Con International panel on Sunday that it will release Shigeru Mizuki‘s Hiter and Tadao Tsuge’s Trash Market manga.

Trash Market is slated for release in February 2015 and will retail for US$22.95. The volume contains six stories about life in post-World War II Japan. Drawn & Quarterly describe the story:

“Trash Market” and “Gently Goes the Night” touch on key topics for Tsuge: the charming lowlifes of the Tokyo slums and the WWII veterans who found themselves unable to forget the war. “Song of Showa” is an autobiographical piece about growing up in a Tokyo slum during the Occupation of Japan with an abusive grandfather and an ailing father, and finding brightness in the joyful people of the neighborhood. Trash Market blurs the lines between fiction and reportage; it’s a moving testament to the grittiness of life in Tokyo during the post-war years.

Mizuki’s Hitler biography is scheduled for sometime between 2015-2016. The biographical manga was published in Japan in 1971 and follows the life of Adolf Hitler from his early beginnings as a painter, through his rise of power, and ultimate defeat during World War II.

Mizuki’s Showa: A History of Showa Japan will be released by Drawn & Quarterly on September 3. It is nominated for a Harvey Award. The publisher also released Mizuki’s Onward Towards Our Noble Deaths, NonNonBâ, and Kitaro manga.
