Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret officially announced today on March 13 in its April 2014 issue that a live-action film adaptation of Io Sakisaka's Ao Haru Ride shoujo manga is set for December 2014 release in Japan. The staff and cast for the film will be announced in the upcoming issues of the magazine. The official site for the TV anime series produced by Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell) has also posted the fisrt key visual featuring the main couple of the story, Futaba Yoshioka and Kou Tanaka. The TV anime is scheduled to premiere in July.
The story centers around a first grade high school girl Futaba Yoshioka. In her junior high school days, she was not good at dealing with boys, except Kou Tanaka from the class next-door. He transferred to a different school during summer vacation. In her high school, she meets again her first love Kou Mabuchi (his family name is changed due to his parents' divorce), but his character is totally different
from it used to be.
