Sidonia no Kishi [シドニアの騎士] (also known as Knights of Sidonia) is a sci-fi action anime adapted from the manga by Nihei Tsutomu [弐瓶 勉] and produced by POLYGON PICTURES [ポリゴン ピクチュアズ]. It is directed by Shizuno Koubun [静野孔文] (Mahou Sensei Negima: Mou Hitotsu no Sekai, Detective Conan Movie, G.I. Joe: Sigma 6) and is written by Murai Sadayuki [村井さだゆき] (Natsume Yuujinchou Shi).
Sidonia no Kishi will begin airing on MBS at 2014/04/10 01:49AM JST, on TBS at 2014/04/11 01:55AM JST, on CBC at 2014/04/11 02:37AM JST, and on BS-TBS at 2014/04/12 00:00AM JST.
The story is set at 1000 years after an alien race known as Gauna destroyed the whole solar system. During that incident, a portion of human race managed to survive by boarding an enormous spaceship called Sidonia and since then, they have been maintaining their population while drifting through the space.
Tanikaze Nagate is a young boy who is just accepted into a school for Guardian pilot trainees, where he makes his first interaction with the other people beside his grandfather. During their first assignment, Nagate and his friends encounter a Gauna for the first time in a hundred years, and this is when the battle for humanity's survival starts.
