The official website for the upcoming anime film Gekijyoban Aikatsu!/Aikatsu! The Movie, the first feature based on Bandai's popular arcade collectible card game and TV anime series, was yesterday updated with a new poster visual featuring the three main girls: Ichigo Hoshimiya (CV: Sumire Morohoshi), Mitsuki Kanzaki (Minako Kotobuki), and Akari Ozora (Shino Shimoji) on the live stage.
The Aikatsu! TV anime series, which is produced by Sunrise (Mobile Suit Gundam series, Cowboy Bebop), started airing on TV Tokyo and its affiliates in October 2012, then has become one of the most successful girls anime series. Its annual sales of 2013 already surpassed that of another popular girls anime franchise, Toei Animation's long-running PreCure series.
The film features Ichigo's special concert titled "Dai Star Miya Ichigo Matsuri" at Star Rise Stadium, where
she saw the top idol Mizuki Kanzaki's concert for the first time. All of the characters from the TV series
including her best friends Aoi Kiriya (Azusa Tadokoro) and Ran Shibuki (Ayaka Ohashi) gather to support
Ichigo's dream of becoming a top idol.
Gekijyoban Aikatsu!/Aikatsu! The Movie is scheduled to be released in Japan on December 13.
