The "Idolmaster" PlayStation 4 Entry Only in the Beginning Stages of Development

The upcoming Idolmaster title for PlayStation 4 is still a long ways from hitting retail shelves, according to producer Yozo Sakagami during an interview at Tokyo Game Show 2014.

Since the PlayStation 4 Idolmaster title will in fact be a brand new game from the ground up, it makes sense that it will require more time and attention. It will not, as Sakagami has confirmed, be an extension of the PlayStation 3's The Idolmaster: One For All.

“If it were an extension of the game that launched for PS3, the PS4 version would have already been out,” confirmed Sakagami. “After we get in a good amount of development time, I will show you a new Idolmaster.”

The Idolmaster's PlayStation 4 iteration was first announced last year before TGS 2013 during a pre-Tokyo Game Show conference held by Sony. That's been a year now. Looks like Idolmaster fans will just continue having to wait patiently.
