Overview
Overall, hardware sale this week decreased by 17 percent. Week-on-week sales are up for the 3DS and PSP. Overall year-on-year sales are up by 18 percent. The Wii U is the only platform up year-on-year.
Four games debuted in the top 30 this week. Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth (3DS) debuted at number three with sales of 187,050. The game launched in Japan.
Software milestones this week in the top 30: Diablo III (PC) passed the four million mark.
Worldwide Hardware
Hardware home console sales week-on-week is down across the board. PlayStation 4 sales are down by 56,632 (-32%) to 121,544 units sold. Wii U sales are down 62,391 (-38%) to 84,334 units sold. The Xbox One sold 37,927 units, a decrease of 14,253 (-27%). PlayStation 3 sales are down 2,551 (-5%) to 46,716 units sold. Xbox 360 sales are down 484 (-1%) to 35,531 units sold. The Wii sold 6,730 units, a decrease of 951 (-12%).
Handheld sales week-on-week is up for the 3DS and PSP. The 3DS sold 110,490 units, which is an increase 16,917 (18%). The PlayStation Vita sold 27,446 units, which is down 3,192 (-10%) compared to last week. The PSP is up 9,951 (90%) to 20.954 units sold. Total week on week sales are down 103,549 units (-17%) to 491,672 units sold.
The Wii U is up year-on-year. The PlayStation 3 is down 56,032 (-55%), the Wii is down 19,361 (-74%), the Xbox 360 is down 24,530 (-41%), and the Wii U is up 62,391 (284%). The PSP is down 37,717 (-57%), the Vita is down 450 (-2%) and the 3DS is down 3,699 (-3%). Year on year sales are up 74,726 units (43%).
Home console hardware sales have decreased for the Wii U, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 for one week. Sales have decreased for two weeks for the Wii and PlayStation 3.
The PlayStation 3 has a 52 percent market share for the seventh generation; the Xbox 360 has a 40 percent market share; and the Wii has an eight percent market share. The PlayStation 4 has a 50 percent market share for the eighth generation, the Wii U has a 35 percent market share and the Xbox One has a 15 percent market share. Compared with 10 weeks ago the Wii U is up.
Handheld hardware sales have increased for the 3DS and PSP for two weeks and decreased for the Vita for four weeks. The Vita has outsold the PSP for 35 straight weeks. The gap between the 3DS and Vita has decreased this week to 83,000 units, from 63,000 units last week.
The 3DS has an 80 percent market share for the eighth generation of handhelds, while the Vita has a 20 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks the PSP is up..

Murdered: Soul Suspect (PS4) debuted at number eight with sales of 57,473. The Xbox One version debuted at number 13 with sales of 36,428. The PlayStation 3 version debuted at number 22 with sales of 25,404. The game launched in North America and Europe.
Cardfight!! Vanguard: Lock On Victory!! (3DS) debuted at number 15 with sales of 32,404. The game launched in Japan.
Wildstar (PC) debuted at number 24 with sales of 24,688. The game launched in North America and Europe.
Here are the other games in the top 10 that are not debuts: Mario Kart 8 (WiiU) is at the top of the charts with sales of 293,396. Watch Dogs (PS4) is at number two with sales of 257,831. Watch Dogs (PS3) is at number four with sales of 145,591. Watch Dogs (X360) is at number five with sales of 140,662.
Watch Dogs (XOne) is at number six with sales of 117,962. Minecraft (PS3) is at number seven with sales of 97,501. Minecraft (X360) is at number nine with sales of 55,503. Tomodachi Life (3DS) rounds out the top 10 with sales of 48,518.
Software home console sales week-on-week is down across the board. The PlayStation 3 sold 1,231,235 games this week, a decrease of 490,114 units (-28%). The Xbox 360 sold 985,903 games, a decrease of 302,470 units (-23%). The PlayStation 4 sold 579,730 games, a decrease of 1,273,168 units (-69%). The Wii U sold 467,575 games, a decrease of 834,341 (-64%). The Wii sold 323,910 games, a decrease of 3,894 (-1%). Xbox One software sales are down 619,751 units (-68%) to 298,239 games sold.
Handheld software sales week-on-week is up for the 3DS. The 3DS sold 641,018 games, which up 233,810 units (57%). The DS sold 231,667 games, a decrease of 4,493 units (-2%) week-on-week. Vita game sales are down 52,926 units (-26%) to 153,645 games sold. The PSP sold 75,198 games, a decrease of 7,560 (-9%). Total combined software is down 3,354,907 units (-40%) week-on-week to 4.99 million.
Year-on-year software totals are up for the Wii U, 3DS, and Vita. The PlayStation 3 is down 37,074 units (-3%), the Wii is down 159,041 units (-33%), the Xbox 360 is down 280,037 units (-22%), and the Wii U is up 376,411 units (413%). The DS is down 67,277 units (-23%), the PSP is down 53,244 units (-41%), the 3DS is up 193,303 units (43%), and the Vita is up 76,474 units (99%). Total combined software is up 927,484 units (23%) games sold year-on-year.
Home console software sales have decreased for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii for one week.
The PlayStation 3 has a 48 percent market share for the seventh generation; the Xbox 360 has a 39 percent market share; and the Wii has a 13 percent market share. The PlayStation 4 has a 43 percent market share for the eighth generation, the Wii U has a 35 percent market share, and the Xbox One has a 22 percent market share.
Handheld software sales have increase for the 3DS for three weeks, while the DS, Vita, and PSP has decreased for one week. The 3DS and DS have remained above their rivals, the Vita and PSP respectively. The 3DS sold more than four times as many games as the Vita. The DS sold three times as many games as the PSP.
The DS has a 75 percent market share for the current generation handhelds and the PSP has a 25 percent market share. The 3DS has an 81 percent market share for the next generation handhelds, while the Vita has a 19 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago the 3D is up.
