According to the latest Oricon weekly sales ranking, the limited edition of the first Blu-ray disc of the on-going TV anime Love Live! School Idol Project Second Season, which was released on June 20, sold about 82,000 units in its first week, becoming the top-selling Blu-ray of the week in Japan. The previous highest record holder of the TV anime series was the seventh volume of the first season, which was released in September 2013 and sold 31,000 units.
The main reason for the huge jump up is probably the advance entry ticket in the set, which is for the "μ's GO→GO! LoveLive! 2015 ~Dream Sensation!~" concert scheduled to be held on January 31 and February 1 in 2015 at Saitama Super Arena. It has been very difficult to purchase a concert ticket of the voice actress unit μ's recently. In order to secure their seats, many dedicated fans don't hesitate to buy more than one unit for the entry ticket. The more you entry, the bigger the chance will be of you joining
the concert. The reference price of the first volume containing the first episode of the second season is
4,860 yen (about US$48).
