Well, there’s another character that was subsequently ripped
off. Anybody here play SNK fighting games? Have you noticed the blatant similarities between
Dio’s new minion here and Benimaru of KING OF FIGHTERS? I mean, the only thing that differentiates
them is the shade of bleach…
And while we’re tallying references, I don’t know if any of
the Stands’ names have paid homage to musicians, but I suppose this guy’s ‘Silver Chariot’ could be
a reference to Silver Chair. Or maybe to the Narnia book, depending on the
timing…
(Pun intended) the
stand-off with that giant beetle on the plane deck had to be one of the most
delightfully absurd scenes in this entire scene. I… just… I mean… the bug
blasts through an entire line of sleeping passengers so it can write ‘massacre’
on the wall with their blood as if it’s some cryptic warning! That Stardust
Crusaders saw what he just did! There’s no hinting about it, now!
The resolution makes the scene even more amusing. After
Joseph successfully lands the plane, he realizes they can’t continue this journey
on conventional routes, lest they endanger any more innocents. So, in other
words, these big dudes are simply too bad ass to travel like common men. It’s like that one scene in FIST OF THE NORTH
STAR where Kenshiro’s bunk explodes after he wakes up and rolls out of it… because
it simply couldn’t handle his manliness!
5000+ Honorary XP to whomever can explain to me what musical
acts Kakyoin, Tower Gray and the various Stands’ names are in reference. I’m a completest
about this, now. I want to see charts breaking down all the references. I
simply must know them all!
Watch "Tower of
Gray" and decide for yourself, then read my comments on the previous batch
of episodes.
