Ok, didn’t see this one coming … Japan’s pint-sized princess of musical mayhem, aka BABYMETAL, have been selected to be the opening act for five shows on the US leg of Lady Gaga’s current ARTPOP ball tour. Prepare thyself for something called LADYMETAL as mentioned in the official ad.
I don’t know how we’re all supposed to feel about Lady Gaga these days, but there is no doubting her dedication to promoting Japanese pop culture (Hatsune Miku opened for Gaga on recent dates as well) in a way that seems more progressive than say, Miley Cyrus. At least, I think. I am still trying to process that one time she went on TV with Kyary Pamyu Pamyu…
Another wall-shaking concern is, will BABYMETAL’s wild headbanging fans get along ok with Gaga’s Little Monsters when they have to all fit inside the same space? Make a note on the calendar on the dates below to find out, I guess…
BABYMETAL extra support act for LADY GAGA’S artRAVE : the ARTPOP ball
7/30 Phoenix, AZ US Airways Arena
8/01 Las Vegas, NV MGM Grand Garden Arena
8/02 Stateline, NV Harveys Lake Tahoe
8/04 Salt Lake City, UT Energy Solutions Arena
8/06 Denver, CO Pepsi Center
ALSO, part of their pilgrimage to the USA, BABYMETAL will also be performing a solo show on July 27th at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles. Strange times, strange times…
