The first volume of the Blu-ray discs for the 2014 April sci-fi robot TV anime Knights of Sidonia is scheduled to be released in Japan on May 28. The official site for the anime has posted a part of the special footage for the disc, a launch-preparation scene from a different angle. Thanks to the latest digital animation technique, each Blu-ray volumes will include about 20 new scenes (mainly battle, violence, sexy shots) recreated with different angles from the original TV version. You can check a sample image and video (it's just a brief shot, though) below. These new scenes are supervised by the executive producer and CG supervisor.
The reference price for the limited edition of the first volume containing the first two episodes (about 48 minutes) is 8,424 yen (about US$82.85) and it is now priced at 6,234 yen (US$61) at Amazon JP.
