BioWare today released the official cover art for its upcoming role-playing game
The Dragon Age: Inquisition art depicts the hero standing on a rocky cliff, thrusting a hand upwards to form the shape of a dragon’s head.
“They say only the Inquisitor has the power to stop it…,” BioWare wrote on Twitter. We don’t know what the “it” is, but that’s presumably going to be the crux of the game’s story.
The art also doesn’t specify a gender for the hero. This was intentional.
“An uncertain gender was absolutely intended. It’s whoever you want to roll, essentially,” creative director Mike Laidlaw said on Twitter.
Dragon Age: Inquisition is the third main entry in BioWare’s fantasy RPG series, following Dragon Age: Origins (2009) and Dragon Age II (2011). Inquisition was originally scheduled to launch last fall, but BioWare later delayed the game an entire 12 months to its new release window of fall 2014.
