Bang! Here comes yet another new announcement for Crunchyroll’s spring season! The irregular at magic high school, based on the light novel by Tsutomu Sato, shall begin streaming soon!

Background and story

Based on the light novel by Tsutomu Sato, The irregular at magic high school is set in a world where magic exists but instead of using chants and spells, magic users cast spells with their Casting Assistant Device (CAD). The CAD is infused with the user’s Psions (a substance-less thought particle) that activates the device and constructs the magic ritual.

Tatsuya Shiba and his sister Miyuki Shiba begin their first day at the National Magic University Affiliated First High School. Students are divided into their classes by their test scores. Students with the best grades are sorted into the First Course, the “Bloom” class while students with poor test score are designated as “Weeds” and placed in the Second Course. Miyuki who scored the top of her entrance exam is chosen as the class rep while Tatsuya, despite having the best score on the written exam, scored poorly in the practical exam and is placed in the Second Course.

Voice actress Saori Hayami, who is known for her role as Saki Morimi from Eden of the East is playing Miyuki Shiba while Tatsuya Shiba is voiced by Yuichi Nakamura, Fairy Tail’s Gray Fulbuster. The original illustrator of the novel Kana Ishida will be handling the character designs as well as being the chief animation director.

The irregular at magic high school will be available to Crunchyroll’s audience in the following territories: North, South America, South Africa, Middle East, Africa, Arab League, and Europe excluding UK, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Algeria, Monaco, Tunisia, Germany*, Switzerland*, Luxemburg*, Austria*, Liechtenstein* and Italy*.

*Will only be available for 21 days from first air date.
