Story and background

In the Edo Period, three black ships have come from overseas to force Japan out of its isolation. However thanks to the giant robots, Onigami, Japan has driven the ships away. The story is of a Japan that never experienced the Meiji Restoration and remained secluded from the rest of the world. The main character Keiichiro Tokugawa is an ambitious man who aims to unite Japan despite having a condition that causes him to break into hives when he touches a woman.

Project-D is credited with the original story, and Dai Sato (Eureka Seven, Freedom, episodes of Cowboy Bebop) is in charge of the series scripts. The titular lead, Keiichiro, will be voiced by Tetsuya Kakihara, also known for his role as Natsu from Fairy Tail. He is joined by Samurai Champloo’s Fuu, voice actress Ayako Kawasumi, who will be playing Kiriko Hattori.

Dai-Shogun – Great Revolution will be available to Crunchyroll’s audience in the following territories: U.S.A, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Turkey, Latin America (Central and South America including Caribbean), Europe (excluding German speaking territories), the Arab League, and the Middle East.
