Two unbelievable forces are set to clash in the war that will settle the fate of reality. Will the victory be the master of the mind or the body?
The Good
Being an overpowered character is never really a good thing, at least when it comes to your main antagonist or protagonist. However, there's just something about it that seems to work in Kenpachi's favor for BLEACH. It feels so awesome to watch him just run steamroller over some dude that gave other heroes such turmoil. What saves him from getting tiresome is that he's used sparingly but just enough to satisfy. That's a good way to handle someone who's this intense.
I'd almost go as far as to describe Kenpachi as the Wolverine of shonen. He's gruff, cruel, tactless, damn near invincible, has an animalistic love for conflict, but a surprising sense of honor behind him. Unlike Logan, Kenpachi embraces his inner beast. It's a good thing this character isn't owned by any Western publishers. They'd just end up giving him his own series then throw him into anything else they could, regardless of any rhyme or reason.
I will reluctantly admit that Kenpachi is probably the perfect person to fight Gremmy. Any other character would likely be either intimidated or have an aneurysm trying to out think this enemy. Kenpachi's not concerned with the logic of any of it. It is what it is, as far as he's concerned. He's just going to push through any obstacle put before him, and it's a lot of fun watching him do it.
The Bad
Many of my complaints with this chapter are repeats from last week. Mainly in the fact that nothing really happens. There's an impressive display of power, then that's about it. Only real upside is that Kenpachi may have found another weakness to Gremmy's power set. I'm not saying the chapter isn't entertaining. It just doesn't live up to the fast pace we've become accustomed to in the series over the past few months.
Verdict 3/5
I will certainly admit that there's something about this chapter that is slightly better than the previous one, but, sadly, not by much of a margin. We just get to see a bit more crazy stuff this time around, and that has some value to it. Hopefully, we're done with the exhibition and we can get to the real battle next week.
