The 10th volume of Hiromu Arakawa's top-selling manga Silver Spoon hits Japanese stores today on January 8. The manga has published more than 12 million copies in Japan so far. The 1,200-yen (about US$11.44) special edition comes with a horse-shaped ema of Oezo Shrine, a wooden wishing tablet. This is a Shinto custom that people write their wishes or prayers on the tablet and hang it up on the shrine grounds. The readers of the manga can remember this ema was appeared in the 58th episode (included in the seventh volume) when Hachiken was going on a date with Aki. This real ema is designed after "Bamba," the horses in the Ban'ei race, under the supervision of Arakawa herself.
And don't forget, the second season of the Silver Spoon TV anime is set to broadcast on Thursday January 9 at 9:50 am Pacific Time. It will be be available to audiences in the following territories: US, Canada, Australia, NZ, UK, Ireland, South Africa, Central/South America, Spain, Portugal, and Turkey
