Madara seems ready to reclaim all the Biju with a single move, and no one can stop him. Although, Shukaku, the One Tails, isn't ready to give up the fight. and he's backed up by Gaara.
The Good
Everything is well illustrated, and the action is thrilling when we get it. If only the creator would spend a little more time tightening up his narrative.
The Bad
Kishimoto has apparently reached a point of the series where he can't stop himself from telling side-stories in the middle of this plot. It's a compulsion with him. It's gotten to the point where he's taking time away from what should be a really tense conclusion -- fingers crossed -- to start answering questions that no one has ever asked.
I enjoyed the story of how Gaara got the "Ai" tattoo on his forehead, and I really loved the moment of discovering Gaara's true connection to his mother when they were originally told. However, why does Kishimoto think that this is the time or the place to be adding more layers to this story?
While we're on the topic of "time and place", where is the Shinobi Alliance? Better yet, just where did all the other Kage run off to?

I've always been pretty open that NARUTO isn't my favorite of the Shonen Trilogy, but I do honestly like it. It has had a lot of very entertaining and emotionally grabbing events. However, this series has seriously started to rub me the wrong way recently. The pace has gone to a crawl, and it keeps jumping around to tell sub-plots. I feel as if I'm now trapped in that two years of the NARUTO anime filler with no end in sight, but this is the canon stuff.
During the flashback portion of the chapter, I was once again having to stop myself from skimming, and this grossly overpowered Madara is just ridiculous. I'm finding this so irritating that I can't even get excited by this cliffhanger,...and that should be really thrilling. Narutomight be dead.
WSJ will be on break until January 20th. Which is probably for the best. I really need a break from this series.
