After beating the box office record of K-ON! Movie and became the highest grossing film adaptation of the midnight run block TV anime in early December, the Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Rebellion film had finally earned the two billion yen (about US$19,164,430) mark by the last day of 2013, December 31, about two months since its release on October 26. The film surpassed the 1 billion mark on November 7, in 13 days.
As a result of the huge success, it will add 46 more screens across Japan (59 in total) from January 11. The theaters will also give a special mini clear file featuring the poster visual drawn by the original character designer Ume Aoki to the moviegoers from the same day.
