Anime's most beloved director, Hayao Miyazaki celebrates his 73rd birthday today, January 5th, 2014. After graduating from Gakushuin in 1963 with degrees in political science and economics, he began working as an animator at Toei in April of that year. Meaning, that if he stays retired, his career will have spanned an amazing five decades.

Making a lot of mainstream media's movies to watch for in 2014, Miyazaki's final anime movie, The Wind Rises, limited release in North American theaters on February 21 and will expand a week later.
Also well timed for the Miyazaki's birthday, artist Martin Hsu and Toyworks have offered a preview of their limited run Miya-San figures. Full specs of the Miya-San figure, pricing, and the timing of the presale and release of the figure will be announced soon.
