Controversial Semi-Aircraft Carrier Izumo Drawn as a "Kan Colle" Fleet Girl

One of the issue's causes friction between Japan and its geopolitical neighbors is Maritime Self-Defense Force’s newest ship, the so called "semi-aircraft carrier" Izumo. Chinese and South Korean media has viewed the ship, which has a flight deck nearly the size of the Shokaku and Zuikaku aircraft carriers that took part  Pearl Harbor attack as a sign of Japan's more right wing, militaristic shift.

The Japanese Defense Ministry and MSDF insist that even though, as the largest ship in the fleet, the Izumo can land up to nine helicopters at a time, the ship isi simply a destroyer capable of carrying helicopters. It won't be carrying fighter plans, and instead it can be used to deal with natural disasters or international emergency rescue operations.
