Buddy Complex [バディ・コンプレックス] is an action mecha anime produced by Sunrise [株式会社サンライズ] (Accel World, Tiger & Bunny, Valvrave The Liberator) and directed by Tanabe Yasuhiro [田辺 泰裕].

The story follows Watase Aoba, a normal high school student who lives a carefree daily life. On his first day after the summer break, a giant robot suddenly appears out of the sky and starts attacking Aoba. He is rescued by his classmate Yumihara Hina who brings out a robot of her own, but she mysteriously disappears later on, leaving Aoba with a message, "Dio is waiting for you", and Aoba's new life as the Free Treaty Alliance's pilot starts since that fateful day.
