Teenage Love Triangle Heats Up in "Love and Lies" Trailer

A new trailer and new cast members have been revealed for Love and Lies (known in Japanese as Koi to Uso), an upcoming TV anime based on the speculative fiction / romance manga by Musawo about a world where the Japanese government assigns young people their ideal marriage partners when they turn 16 years old. The trailer previews the opening theme, "Kanashii Ureshii", which is performed by Frederic.

The new cast members announced include:

  • Kishō Taniyama as Hajime Yajima, an employee of the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare who is responsible for delivering marriage notifications.
  • Tomoyo Kurosawa as Kagetsu Ichijou, another employee of the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare.
  • And Eri Kitamura as the narrator.

The original Love and Lies manga is published by Kodansha and serialized on DeNA's Manga Box app, which describes the story of Love and Lies as follows:

Lies are forbidden and love is doubly forbidden. In the near future, when young people in Japan turn sixteen, they are assigned a marriage partner by the government. People don't have to go through the trouble of looking for someone, and everyone accepts that the country will find a compatible partner to make them happy. Yukari Nejima is fifteen years old. He lives in a small corner of the country, and just can't seem to get ahead in life. Both academically and athletically he's below average. But in within him, he hides a heart burning with passion! In this world in which love is forbidden, what will happen to him when he falls in love?

The Love and Lies TV anime is directed by Seiki Takuno and features animation by Liden Films. Love and Lies kicks off its Japanese broadcast on Tokyo MX, tvk, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, and BS11 on July 03, 2017.
