"Magical Girl Raising Project: breakdown" Raises the Stakes

While the anime is over, there's more to the story -- and it's looking like things are about to get brutal in a brand new way.

Magical Girl Raising Project: breakdown is a web-syndicated light novel series featuring five fan-created magical girls, chosen during a contest run by creator Asari Endo. From left to right, they are: Pastel Merry (draws sheep that come to life), Miss Margarite (bends objects straight), Love Me Ren-Ren (shoots people with arrows that make them love-drunk), Nephilia (hears the voices of the dead), and Dreamy☆Chelsea (shoots stars from her magic wand).

The new series begins when invitations are sent to the relatives of a deceased mage. They are asked to come to his research facility on a private island to decide who will receive his inheritance. Those who don't show, forfeit their right to the inheritance. And each person may bring up to two magical girls with them.

The first installment is 45 pages long and available to read now on Kono Manga ga Sugoi! The second installment is expected to come out in mid-April. Endo assures readers that they don't need to be familiar with Magical Girl Raising Project to enjoy it, but fans will get a little something extra out of the experience.
