Inagi City Unveils 2 Meter Tall Statue of Yatter Wan from "Yatterman"

Inagi City, Tokyo, Japan is drumming up tourism by celebrating the work of mechanical designer and Inagi native Kunio Okawara with an unusual promotion: the installation of a 2 meter (6.6 feet) tall monument of Yatter Wan, the loveable mecha from Yatterman. The monument will be installed outside of Minami-Tama Station, a railway station in Inagi City.

The installation kicks off with an official "town opening" ceremony on April 22, 2017, which will feature both Kunio Okawara and voice actor Koichi Yamadera (the voice of Yatter Wan) as guests. Inagi City will also be installing a 1.7 meter (5.6 feet) tall statue of their local mascot character, Inagi Nashinosuke Tokeidai, which was co-designed by Okawara.
